Tammy Slaton’s Powerful Comeback: Weight Loss, Heartbreak, and a New Beginning
Tammy Slaton, star of 1000-lb Sisters, has come a long way since her TV debut in 2020. After years of battling obesity and food addiction, the 38-year-old has lost over 500 pounds and recently underwent an eight-hour skin removal surgery that took more than 15 pounds off her face, arms, and stomach.
“I worked so hard for this,” Tammy told PEOPLE. “I was terrified the night before surgery, but I knew it was time.”
For the first time, she’s walking on her own and breathing without oxygen. Her family, emotional and proud, witnessed her dramatic transformation on the show.
But Tammy’s journey hasn’t just been about physical change. Last year, she lost her husband Caleb Willingham just seven months after they married. “I got a text saying he wasn’t doing well,” she recalled. “Twenty minutes later, he was gone.” Tammy now wears his ashes in a ring and necklace, keeping his memory close.
In Season 7, Tammy shares she’s found love again—this time with a woman. “I haven’t told my family yet,” she admits on the show. “But I’m finally being true to myself.”
Through heartbreak and healing, Tammy’s story is one of grit, growth, and learning to love herself.
