Identical Twins Turn 100—And Their Bond Is Still Going Strong
RALEIGH, N.C. — Identical twins often share an unbreakable bond, but for Gloria Lipman and Bernice Frank, that connection has lasted an entire century.
This past weekend, the sisters celebrated their 100th birthday surrounded by family, friends, and a whole lot of love—and they were more than happy to share a few pearls of wisdom from a life well lived.
“I Got Here First!”
They may look alike, but Gloria and Bernice never miss a chance to poke fun at each other—especially when it comes to who was born first.
“I’m the older sister—by 10 minutes,” Bernice said with a grin.
“And I’ve been chasing her ever since!” Gloria added, laughing.
Even after 100 years, their sense of humor is as sharp as ever. But behind the jokes is a deep appreciation for the rare gift of sharing a lifetime side by side.
“This is such a joy—something most people never get to experience. We’re incredibly lucky,” Bernice said.
Gloria echoed that sentiment, telling the room, “It’s the gift of a lifetime. I wish this kind of love and joy on every single one of you, with all my heart.”
A Century of Memories
The celebration was held at a hotel in Raleigh, giving the twins a chance to look back on decades of memories—and to dance a little, too. Watching them move, you’d never guess they were turning 100.
“I’ve been exercising regularly for about 50 years,” Gloria shared. “Now I do yoga, and I really think that’s helped keep me healthy.”
Bernice chimed in, pointing to her head. “Keeping your brain busy—doing things that are interesting—that’s what keeps you going.”
What They’ve Learned in 100 Years
When asked about the secret to a long and happy life, the twins were quick to point to kindness.
“Love every person you meet,” Bernice said. “Most people have goodness in them. Follow your heart. If you do that, you won’t have regrets.”
That loving mindset, paired with a good sense of humor, seems to be their recipe for staying young at heart.
“God must have kept us around this long just so we could watch all of you age along with us,” Gloria joked, prompting laughter from the crowd.
Still Living Life on Their Own Terms
Despite their age, both women still live independently—Gloria in Raleigh, and Bernice in New Jersey. But they make sure to spend time together as often as they can.
And they’re not done celebrating just yet.
“Our grandfather made it to 103,” Bernice said with a wink. “We plan to do the same.”
Here’s hoping they do. Happy 100th, Gloria and Bernice!
