Martin Mull, the beloved comedian and actor known for his sharp wit and unique humor, has passed away at the age of 80. His daughter, Maggie Mull, shared the news on Instagram, saying he died peacefully at home after battling a long illness.
Mull was best known for his roles as Leon Carp on Roseanne, Principal Kraft on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and the hilarious Gene Parmesan on Arrested Development. In 2016, he earned an Emmy nomination for his role in Veep.
Beyond acting, Mull was also a talented songwriter and musician, even opening for stars like Frank Zappa and Billy Joel. His parody song “A Girl Named Johnny Cash” charted on Billboard in the ’70s.
He had a long, colorful career filled with creativity, laughter, and music—and he’ll be deeply missed by fans and fellow artists alike.
