Devastating Fire Displaces Families in South L.A.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a massive fire tore through the Central-Alameda neighborhood of South Los Angeles, destroying five homes, damaging two others, and injuring three people.
The fire started around 3:30 a.m. at an apartment building under construction and quickly spread. Residents fled in panic, some carrying loved ones and pets. One man, Jerardo Diaz, pulled his injured father to safety as flames reached their porch.
Locals say the site had no security and was often trespassed. Now, 17 people are displaced just weeks before the holidays. The Red Cross and city officials are stepping in to provide shelter and support while investigators search for the cause.
