Kansas Teen Dies After Online Sextortion Scam
14-year-old Caleb Moore tragically took his own life after being targeted in a sextortion scam. It started with a stranger posing as a teen girl on TikTok and quickly turned into blackmail on Snapchat. Within just 35 minutes, Caleb felt overwhelmed by threats to leak private photos.
His final message to his parents was, “It’s going to be okay.” He was later found in critical condition and did not survive.
Caleb’s mother now urges parents to talk openly with their kids about online safety. “These scammers make kids think their world is over,” she said. “But it’s not—there’s always someone who will help.”
Caleb is remembered as a kind, caring soul who brought joy to everyone around him.
