While shopping at Walmart, I was confronted by a man insisting I give up my wheelchair for his wife, claiming she was just tired and needed a break. His wife quietly said she could manage, but he kept pushing.
Thankfully, Mary, a calm and composed Walmart employee, stepped in. She politely but firmly explained that wheelchairs are for customers who truly need mobility support and offered to check for an extra one. When that didn’t work, she directed them to nearby benches. The man finally backed down, and they walked away.
Shaken but grateful, I thanked Mary with a nod as I headed out. Her kindness and professionalism reminded me how important empathy and understanding are—especially when challenges aren’t always visible.
