“He’s a total cuddle bug.” ❤️

After being abandoned and left to roam near the city limits of Copperas Cove, Texas, a lovable American bulldog mix named Mr. Snufflufugus just wanted someone to help him. Scared but hopeful, he wandered until local animal control officers stepped in to bring him to safety.

As soon as Mr. Snufflufugus arrived at Copperas Cove Animal Control, his relief was obvious—and his first instinct was to show gratitude in the best way he knew how: with a big, heartfelt hug.

“Victoria and I were in the play area with Mr. Snufflufugus when he decided he needed a hug,” said Tamara Hall, the shelter’s animal control supervisor. “Even though he loves seeing everyone, I’m his favorite person—so I get the extra-special hugs and kisses!”

Hall’s coworker, Victoria Watkins-Killebrew, happened to catch the sweet moment and snapped a photo. It didn’t take long for the image to melt hearts online.

Hugs like that aren’t rare for Mr. Snufflufugus. In fact, he’s earned a reputation around the shelter for being one of the cuddliest dogs they’ve ever met.

“He’s a cuddle bug for sure,” Hall said. “If you sit down on the floor, he’ll come right over and snuggle up in your lap or lean against you. He’s got those irresistible puppy-dog eyes that just beg for love.”

When he’s not snuggling up with staff, Mr. Snufflufugus enjoys short walks—but he’s happiest just lounging and soaking up attention.

“He’s a classic couch potato,” Hall laughed.

After his now-viral hug photo made the rounds on social media, the shelter was flooded with adoption inquiries. Because Copperas Cove Animal Control is a small facility, they’ve partnered with a larger rescue to help place Mr. Snufflufugus with the perfect forever home.

While he waits, he’s getting lots of love from the shelter team and learning all the best manners from volunteers who adore him.

This sweet pup has so much love to give—and when he finally meets his forever family, he’ll have plenty more hugs ready for them.
