Baker Mayfield Welcomes Baby Girl with Wife Emily: “She’s Everything We Prayed For”
There’s a brand-new Buccaneers fan in town!
Tampa Bay quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife, Emily, announced the birth of their daughter, Kova Jade, on April 9. The couple shared the heartwarming news over the weekend on Instagram.
“Baby girl joined us Tuesday night just before 7:30pm,” Emily wrote on her Instagram Story. “She is truly everything we prayed for, and more. We’re enjoying life as a family of four – Fergus is so gentle & curious, Daddy is so smitten, and Mama wants to pause time & make these days last forever.”
Emily also posted a sweet snapshot of baby Kova, Baker, and the family’s beloved dog, Fergus, writing, “My heart could explode at any minute, I swear. Bake was born to be a dad.”
Back in 2023, the couple teased their big news with a playful post: “We’ve been hiding a little something… But we are THRILLED to share that baby girl Mayfield will be joining our crazy crew in early April 2024!”
The happy family update comes after a milestone year for Baker both on and off the field.
After being selected first overall by the Cleveland Browns in 2018, Mayfield spent four seasons there before the team brought in Deshaun Watson in 2022. Baker was later traded to the Carolina Panthers but had a short stint there before being released and signing with the Los Angeles Rams.
In March 2023, he signed a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers—and that’s when things really turned around. Mayfield had a standout season, throwing 28 touchdowns to just 10 interceptions, leading the Bucs to an NFC South title and a playoff run that ended in the divisional round with a loss to the Detroit Lions.
Following his breakout performance, Mayfield secured a three-year contract extension worth $100 million—with $50 million guaranteed. He also earned his first Pro Bowl nod for his efforts.
At a press conference earlier this year, Mayfield opened up about how much Emily’s support meant to him during some of the toughest times in his career, calling her his rock through the ups and downs.
Now, with a growing family and a new chapter in Tampa Bay, things are looking bright for the Mayfields—on and off the field.
