They’ve Lost The Weight, But They Still Have The Skin

Meet Cathie Jung — the woman who holds the Guinness World Record for the smallest waist on a living person. Her unique lifestyle is not only shaped by her love of corsets but also by a 55-year marriage that continues to defy time.

Cathie’s waist measures a tiny 15 inches when corseted, a result of decades of wearing tight-laced Victorian-style corsets. While some may find this unusual, for Cathie and her husband Bob, it’s been part of their shared journey from the very beginning. “She’s the love of my life,” Bob says, and after all these years, that affection still shines through.

Bob has always been captivated by Cathie’s silhouette. “I like the appearance and the feel of the small waist,” he admits. For him, it’s a timeless beauty — one that’s enhanced, not diminished, by the passage of time.

Of course, tight-lacing corsets often raise questions, especially about their effects on the body. Cathie addresses these concerns with the calm confidence of someone who’s done her homework — and lived the experience. While wearing a corset can reduce appetite and may slightly shift organs (similar to what happens during pregnancy), she says it doesn’t cause any permanent harm. There can be minor chafing around the bones where the corset is stitched, but she’s quick to point out: “Contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t have to hurt.”

In one touching moment, Cathie shares her plan to surprise Bob by wearing one of her favorite corset outfits — a beautifully designed replica of a fancy Victorian costume. This particular corset is laced with ribbon instead of traditional ties, adding a graceful touch. “I love how it looks and fits,” Cathie says. “It makes me feel very special.”

As she gets ready, the excitement is clear. She hopes Bob will be just as thrilled seeing her in this unique outfit as he was when they first met — and after 55 years, there’s no doubt he will be.

Their story is one of dedication, both to a unique lifestyle and to each other. It’s a reminder that love can take many forms — sometimes even in the shape of a perfectly laced corset.
