Dad Undergoes Tattoo Removal for the Sake of His Daughter

We all have things in our past we wish we could undo—bad choices, embarrassing moments, or words we wish we could take back. But for Ethan “ModBoy” Bramble, those regrets are etched into his skin.

The Australian dad and self-proclaimed body modification enthusiast has spent years transforming his appearance, covering nearly every inch of his body with more than 200 tattoos. While tattoos have become more accepted in mainstream culture, Ethan took things to the extreme—undergoing procedures like ear stretching, tongue splitting, and even having his belly button removed.

Now, He’s Having a Change of Heart

Ethan began his body modification journey at just 11 years old and has spent roughly $39,000 (USD) to achieve his bold look. But now in his 20s—and a father—he’s rethinking those decisions.

Speaking on LadBibleTV’s No Filter series, he admitted, “I guess you could say I regret some tattoos. Not just regret—I think there’s a difference between regret and wanting to be seen differently.”

A Father’s Concern for His Daughter

As a dad, Ethan is especially aware of how his heavily tattooed appearance might impact his daughter—especially when it comes to everyday things like taking her to school.

“The face is a big thing,” he said. “It can cause a lot of issues for some people—not everyone—but I probably wouldn’t want my daughter to have to deal with that until she’s older.”

He added, “I wish I hadn’t gone so extreme with my face.”

Taking Steps Toward a New Look

Determined to make a change, Ethan has been undergoing laser tattoo removal for over a year—a process that’s both painful and expensive.

“I’ve probably gone over the full thing six or seven times,” he said. “We do it in sections. I started because of the anxiety and mental health struggles I was dealing with. It’s hard to pinpoint, but I think a lot of that came from having a face covered in tattoos.”

Despite the discomfort, Ethan remains hopeful. “I’m happy with how I look now, but I’m also happy knowing that over the next two years, my face tattoos will keep fading. I’m just clearing the canvas.”

When Zach texted me from school, “Can you come get me? It’s urgent,” I had no clue what awaited. He got in the car looking shaken, hoodie half-zipped like he’d rushed out. I tried to lighten the mood, asking if he failed a test or got into trouble. He quietly said, “It’s not about me. It’s about her.” That’s when I learned the truth. His girlfriend had left the hospital without the baby—no paperwork signed, no goodbye. And Zach, my shy, video-game-obsessed boy still figuring out shaving? He ended up signing the discharge papers. That night, he looked me in the eyes and said, “If no one wants her, I do.”
