On a hot July day in Keene, New Hampshire, police Lt. Jason Short rushed to a Wal-Mart parking lot after someone reported a baby locked in a car. Spotting tiny feet under a blanket, he smashed the window to rescue the child.
But after pulling the “baby” out and attempting CPR, he quickly realized something was off—the lungs didn’t inflate, and the mouth wouldn’t open. That’s when he discovered it wasn’t a baby at all, but a lifelike silicone doll.
The doll’s owner, Carolynne Seiffert, was getting her hair done nearby. She explained the $2,300 “reborn” doll, named Ainslie, was meant to look and feel like a real infant. She collects them as a hobby.
Short admitted the doll was so realistic, it even fooled him.
