Beloved chef and Food Network star Anne Burrell has died unexpectedly at the age of 55. She was found unresponsive in her Brooklyn home on the morning of June 17, 2025. Despite efforts from first responders, she could not be revived. The official cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.

Anne was best known for her bold personality, trademark spiky blonde hair, and straight-shooting advice on shows like Worst Cooks in America. She brought joy, confidence, and a sense of fun to the kitchen—and her fans loved her not just for her skills, but for her heart.

Born in Cazenovia, New York, Anne’s love for cooking started at home, inspired by her mother’s meals and the legendary Julia Child. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in 1996, she quickly became a household name through Food Network hits like Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and Chef Wanted.

She is survived by her husband Stuart Claxton, his son Javier, her children Isabella, Amelia, and Nicolas, along with other close family members. In a statement, her family described her as “a light that touched millions,” and said her warmth and spirit will always be remembered.

Anne was also known for her charitable work, supporting causes like juvenile diabetes research and hunger relief through City Harvest. She served on the advisory board of the Garden of Dreams Foundation.

Just days before her passing, Anne shared a joyful post on Instagram, full of her usual energy and passion for life. In what would become her final interview, she said, “Your food knows how you’re feeling when you cook it.”
