A 29-year-old man visiting Florida from Colorado was tragically killed by a lightning strike while on his honeymoon at New Smyrna Beach. The incident happened during severe weather last Friday. Despite CPR and emergency care, he passed away the next day.
That same afternoon, two golfers at a nearby course were also hit indirectly by lightning but were not seriously injured.
Officials are using the tragedy to remind the public: “When thunder roars, go indoors.” Even if the sky seems clear, lightning can still strike.
