Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah recently sat down with Kay Adams on Up and Adams to share what’s been fueling his offseason focus—and it’s clear he’s locked in.
July 26, 2024 – Kansas City, MO: After wrapping up training camp at Missouri Western State University, Anudike-Uzomah opened up about how he’s been approaching the break between seasons. While some teammates have taken the time to rest, recover, and reset, others—like Anudike-Uzomah—are already locked in on getting better for the upcoming 2025 season.
From franchise cornerstone Patrick Mahomes to superstar tight end Travis Kelce, the Chiefs are determined to bounce back after their Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. But it’s not just the offensive stars putting in work—defensive players are stepping up too.
Anudike-Uzomah, entering his third NFL season, has shown steady growth since his rookie year. On the show, he explained where his focus has been this offseason.
“One thing I’ve been locked in on is understanding the scheme better and really honing in on the details—like my footwork and improving my pass rush,” he said. “I know there were a lot of sacks I missed last year that I want to capitalize on.”
But it’s not all football, all the time.
“I’ve also made it a priority to spend more time with my family. Last year, I didn’t really get much of that because everything was just so busy with football. This offseason, I made that a focus too.”
It’s a reminder that NFL players are human, with families and lives beyond the field. As the 2025 season nears, Anudike-Uzomah—and his teammates—are working to find that balance between the grind and quality time with loved ones.
Last season, Anudike-Uzomah posted 27 total tackles (16 solo), 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble and recovery, and five passes defended. Though currently listed as the backup behind Mike Danna, he’s poised to make the most of his reps in training camp.
At just 23 years old, Anudike-Uzomah still has plenty of room to grow—and there’s no better place to do it than with a championship-caliber team like the Chiefs.
