Deadly Mudslide Near Lillooet Leaves 4 Dead, 1 Still Missing
A powerful mudslide near Lillooet, B.C., has left four people dead and one still missing after heavy rain triggered the disaster on November 15 along Highway 99.
Rescuers recovered the body of a woman earlier in the week, followed by three men. Due to unsafe conditions, the search for the fifth person has now been called off.
Victim identification is ongoing, and Highway 99 remains closed indefinitely. Officials offered condolences to the families and stressed the growing threat of climate-related disasters in the region.
