Prince Harry is mourning a shocking loss after 98-year-old Michael Brudenell-Bruce, the 8th Marquess of Ailesbury, tragically died while trying to rescue his pet cat.
Brudenell-Bruce reportedly fell from his bedroom window in an attempt to free his cat, Honeybun, who had gotten stuck. His longtime partner of over 30 years, Teresa Marshall de Paoli, found him lying in a pool of blood after he hit his head on a concrete patio below.
“It was a freak accident,” Teresa said, still shaken by the heartbreaking scene.
The incident happened late Sunday night in the Shepherd’s Bush area of West London. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities initially launched an investigation, but later confirmed his death was accidental.
Brudenell-Bruce, a former Royal Horse Guards captain, Eton-educated, and a retired stockbroker, leaves behind a grieving family, including his daughter Lady Kathryn Brudenell Bruce. Friends and loved ones are remembering him as a dignified and devoted man whose life ended in a tragic twist of fate.
