Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the Duck Dynasty family, is facing a tough battle with Alzheimer’s disease—and according to his son Jase, things aren’t improving.
Jase opened up about his father’s condition during the April 2 episode of the Unashamed with the Robertson Family podcast, sharing that fans often ask about Phil’s health.
“The number one question I get everywhere I go is, ‘How’s your dad doing?’” Jase said. “At this point, I just give the honest answer: ‘Not good.’”
The family is doing their best to stay hopeful, but Jase admits the situation is tough. When he first shared the news late last year, Jase explained that doctors had also diagnosed Phil with a blood disorder, which has made things even more complicated—and his condition continues to decline.
Phil Robertson, now 78, rose to fame on the hit A&E series Duck Dynasty, which aired from 2012 to 2017 and followed the lives of the Robertson family and their Duck Commander business.
In January, it was announced that Duck Dynasty would be returning after nearly eight years, this time focusing on Willie and Korie Robertson and their adult children. According to sources close to the project, Phil was never expected to be part of the new series—even if his health were better—due to the backlash he received in 2014 over controversial remarks in a GQ magazine interview, which led to a temporary suspension from the show.
