‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Phil Robertson Dies at 79 After Alzheimer’s Battle.

The beloved patriarch of the Robertson family passed away months after his Alzheimer’s diagnosis was made public.

Phil Robertson, star of the hit reality TV show Duck Dynasty, has died at the age of 79. His family shared the news on Sunday, May 25, through emotional tributes on social media, just months after revealing in December that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

Phil’s son, Jase Robertson, posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!”

Phil’s granddaughter, Sadie Robertson Huff, honored her grandfather with a touching post on Instagram, sharing a series of family photos that spanned decades of memories.

Willie and Korie Robertson also released a joint statement via Instagram:
“We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord. Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life. We’ll be holding a private service for now, but we’ll share details about a public celebration soon.”

A Longtime Battle With Alzheimer’s

Phil’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis was first made public during a December 2023 episode of the Unashamed with the Robertson Family podcast. At the time, Jase revealed that his father was in the early stages of the disease, but by April, his condition had worsened significantly.

“He’s just not doing well. He’s really struggling,” Jase said in an emotional update on the podcast. “We’re doing our best to make him comfortable.”

A Legacy of Faith, Family, and Ducks

Phil Robertson rose to national fame with Duck Dynasty, the A&E reality show that followed the lives of the Robertson family as they ran their family business, Duck Commander, in Louisiana. The company, which Phil founded in 1972, became famous for its handcrafted duck calls and outdoor gear.

Duck Dynasty ran for 11 seasons from 2012 to 2017 and turned the Robertsons into household names. Phil, alongside his wife Kay and their sons Jase, Willie, and Jep, appeared on the show along with other family members and employees. The show’s mix of family values, humor, and strong Christian faith struck a chord with millions of viewers across America.

Since the show ended, the family has stayed in the public eye through various spinoffs like Jep & Jessica: Growing the Dynasty, Going Si-Ral, and Duck Family Treasure. In January 2025, A&E announced that the series would be returning as Duck Dynasty: The Revival, expected to premiere this summer.

A Life Rooted in Faith

Born and raised in Louisiana, Phil built his life around faith, family, and the outdoors. He started Duck Commander with a patented duck call and turned it into a multi-million-dollar business. He married Kay when she was just 17, and the two remained together throughout his life, raising a large, close-knit family.

Phil’s influence extended far beyond reality TV. He was an outspoken Christian who used his platform to talk about faith and personal transformation, which resonated with many fans.

As tributes continue to pour in from around the country, fans and loved ones remember Phil Robertson not just as a television personality, but as a man of deep faith and enduring legacy.
