On the morning of Sunday, July 16, a heartbreaking accident on the CE-060 highway near Caririaçu, Brazil, claimed the lives of an entire family.

Sebastião Cícero Gomes, Hérida Nascimento da Silva, and their 3-year-old son Miguel were traveling from Várzea Alegre to Juazeiro do Norte for a surgery Miguel needed. What should have been a hopeful one-hour journey ended in tragedy when their car veered off the road and plunged into a five-meter-deep stream near Sítio Piripiri.

Rescue efforts were difficult, and sadly, no one survived. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, raising questions about road conditions and safety. The loss has left the Cariri region in mourning—a devastating reminder of how quickly life can change.
