Funeral home owner?

A disturbing case in Colorado has come to light as Jon and Carie Hallford, owners of a so-called eco-friendly funeral home, admitted to abusing 190 bodies.

Authorities launched an investigation in October 2023 after neighbors reported a foul odor. Inside, they found bodies improperly stored—some since 2019. The couple had promised green burials but instead gave families fake ashes and buried the wrong remains.

They took over $130,000 from clients and spent it on luxury items. Now facing up to 20 years in prison, their sentencing is set for April 2025. The case has sparked calls for tighter regulation of the funeral industry.
