In response to the prior attack, Musk revealed that his team was dealing with a massive cyber assault aimed at bringing down X. “We get attacked every day,” Musk said in a post. “There was a massive cyber attack to try to bring down the X system with IP addresses originating in the Ukraine area.” However, cybersecurity experts caution that hackers often mask their true location by manipulating IP addresses, making it difficult to pinpoint the actual source.

Musk’s Department for Government Efficiency (DOGE) website was also targeted in February. Hackers left messages such as “this is a joke of a .gov site” and “THESE EXPERTS LEFT THEIR DATABASE OPEN,” highlighting vulnerabilities in the site’s security.
