Mikayla Raines, the heart and soul behind Save a Fox Rescue and a beloved figure on YouTube, passed away in June 2025. Her husband, Ethan, shared the devastating news in a heartfelt video, revealing that Mikayla had quietly struggled for years with depression and borderline personality disorder. Though known for her strength and fierce love for animals, the weight of online hate and constant criticism eventually became too much.
Mikayla’s passion for rescuing animals started at just 15, when she met her first fox while volunteering. That moment changed the course of her life. She later left college to fully commit herself to rescuing animals—especially foxes saved from the fur trade. Among her greatest accomplishments was helping shut down a fur farm and rescuing over 500 animals.
Even in her final days, Mikayla remained dedicated to her mission—feeding a lemur on camera and teaching her young daughter to honor and protect wildlife. Though her time here was far too short, Mikayla’s impact is lasting. Her compassion, courage, and legacy live on in every life she touched—both human and animal.
