Nearly five years after his unexpected passing in 2019, Dove Cameron led the heartfelt tributes to her late co-star and close friend, honoring his legacy with a moving post that brought fans to tears.

Taking to Instagram on May 28, Dove shared a carousel of intimate black-and-white photos capturing their deep friendship — arms wrapped around each other, candid smiles, and a powerful close-up of the tattoo she got in his honor.

The ink? A gun with roses blooming from it — symbolizing Cameron Boyce’s passionate stance against gun violence and his hope for peace.

“I still feel you all the time,” Dove wrote in her caption. “Catch you in the next life. Happy birthday. I love you.”

The outpouring of love didn’t stop there. Fellow Descendants stars Sofia Carson and Booboo Stewart also posted tributes that celebrated not just the performer — but the person Cameron was.

He ended his tribute by spotlighting The Cameron Boyce Foundation, which works to raise awareness around epilepsy — the very condition that claimed Boyce’s life in his sleep at just 20 years old — and promote artistic outlets for youth as alternatives to violence.
