20-Year-Old Colombian Woman Dies by Euthanasia After Years of Suffering
Erika Deyanira Morales, 20, from Nariño, Colombia, chose euthanasia after living with quadriplegia caused by a brutal attack in 2021. At just 17, she was hit with a bottle in a bar restroom, leaving her paralyzed and fully dependent on her family.
Though her request was initially denied, public support and her sister Tatiana’s campaign brought national attention. Erika was finally granted approval in February 2025.
Her passing was confirmed by Tatiana, who shared emotional tributes honoring Erika’s strength and fight for dignity.
