Amber Hall, a mother of two, thought she had finally found her dream first home in Centennial, Colorado—a spacious four-bedroom, two-bath with a big backyard perfect for her kids and dogs. After weeks of searching, she was thrilled to move in and start this new chapter. But just days after settling in, things took a terrifying turn.

While unpacking, Amber noticed her dog acting strangely near a wall by the door connecting the garage to the backyard. When she took a closer look, she was horrified to see large snakes slithering inside the wall.

The intruders turned out to be big garter snakes—a disturbing and unexpected discovery. Since then, Amber has found around ten snakes inside her home and fears there may be even more hiding out of sight.

Experts believe the snakes may have been living in the house for up to two years. Amber hired a professional snake wrangler to remove them humanely, but the experience has left her on edge. She’s afraid to fully unpack or even relax, constantly worried that a snake might pop out of a box or crawl into her bed.

At 42, this is Amber’s first home—a hard-earned milestone after years of saving and working. But instead of celebrating, she’s stuck living in fear. So far, she’s spent about $1,000 on snake removal and says she won’t feel truly safe until the house is thoroughly inspected and possibly torn up, including lifting concrete, to locate where the snakes are nesting.

It’s the kind of homeowner nightmare no one wants to face.
