Lizzie Velasquez, now 29, weighs just 64 pounds due to an incredibly rare condition called Marfan lipodystrophy syndrome—so rare that only one other person in the world is known to have it. Despite being bullied for most of her life, Lizzie has faced it all with strength and resilience.

“I know what it’s like to feel like you’re not pretty enough,” she’s shared honestly. But her faith, family, and cultural roots have been her anchor through the toughest times.

A devout Catholic, Lizzie finds peace in her spiritual life and says feeling God’s presence gives her strength. She’s also the oldest of three siblings in a close-knit Mexican-American family that’s supported her unconditionally. Her parents, sister, and brother treat her like anyone else—just Lizzie—and have always stood by her side, especially when strangers stare or make hurtful comments.

A proud Texan, Lizzie recently bought her first home in Austin, just a few minutes from her parents’ place. She loves entertaining, hosting family gatherings, and experimenting in the kitchen. Her favorite dish to cook? Cheese enchiladas.

Her life changed forever after a cruel video went viral when she was a teen, labeling her “The World’s Ugliest Woman.” It was painful—but Lizzie chose not to let it define her.

Instead, she became a force for good. Today, Lizzie is a published author, a sought-after motivational speaker, and a popular YouTuber. Her TED Talk has racked up more than 13 million views, inspiring people worldwide with her message of self-love and inner strength.

Her mission is clear: to show others they are enough just as they are. “It’s possible,” she says, “to reach a point where you fully accept yourself—from the inside out.”
