Roseanne Barr is firing back at ABC in her new documentary, claiming she was asked to make a guest appearance on The Conners — as a ghost.
“They killed off my character, stole my show, and now they want me back to boost ratings?” the 72-year-old comedian said, adding she sarcastically declined by saying, “I’m gonna be bowling that f—ing week.”
Barr co-created and starred in the hit sitcom Roseanne, which was revived in 2018 but quickly canceled after she posted a racist tweet. ABC cut ties, calling the post “abhorrent,” and rebranded the show as The Conners — killing off Roseanne with an opioid overdose.
Barr said she was stunned they used that cause of death, since actor Glenn Quinn, who played Becky’s husband, died of a real-life overdose.
The Conners wrapped its seven-season run in April, with the final episode finally acknowledging Roseanne’s death. Producers admitted they were nervous to bring her up but felt it would’ve been wrong to ignore her entirely.
