Selena’s Killer: Yolanda Saldívar Denied Parole!
The woman responsible for the tragic death of Selena Quintanilla will remain behind bars after being denied parole.
On Thursday, a Texas parole board rejected Yolanda Saldívar’s request for release, citing the violent nature of her crime and stating that she still poses a “continuing threat” to society.
Saldívar was once a trusted employee of the Tejano music icon, managing her fan club and boutiques. However, on March 9, 1995, Selena’s father fired her after accusing her of embezzling money from the singer’s business, which was planning to expand into Monterrey, Mexico.
Less than two weeks later, Saldívar lured Selena to a motel and fatally shot her. The beloved singer was just 23 years old. Saldívar was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
Following Thursday’s decision, her next opportunity for parole will reportedly be in March 2030.
Selena’s family reacted to the ruling with a statement on social media: “While nothing can bring Selena back, this decision reaffirms that justice continues to stand for the beautiful life that was taken from us and from millions of fans around the world far too soon.”
