Drake Sends Shots At Kendrick Lamar & Joe Budden On New R&B Album

Drake Sparks R&B Beef with PartyNextDoor and Takes Shots at Kendrick Lamar and Joe Budden on New Album

Drake has stirred up some serious drama with his new album, throwing shade at Kendrick Lamar and continuing his ongoing feud with Joe Budden.

After several tracks aimed at the ladies, Drake saved the real heat for the end of “Gimme a Hug,” where he addresses the aftermath of his tension with Kendrick Lamar. He takes a direct jab at Lamar, questioning whether Kendrick could fill his shoes if his lyrics had actually taken him down.

Drake raps coldly, “Funny how it’s only [haters] waiting on my obituary/’Cause if I die, it’s these [haters] who’d be the beneficiaries/And what the [heck] are they gonna do with it?”—a clear dig at Kendrick’s clever wordplay in a strip club setting.

But the beef doesn’t stop there. Drake switches gears and goes after Joe Budden, calling out his podcast cohost—who happens to be from Toronto—saying, “Melyssa Ford, you a legend from the 6, hate to see you with a [expletive].” This marks Drake’s second jab at Budden this week, with Drake’s “plottttwistttttt” Instagram account recently roasting the podcast host for not doing enough sit-ups.

Drake also made it clear that he’s not interested in making amends with Kendrick, referencing a conversation on the track “Brian Steele” where he raps, “Broski just hit me, said, ‘Put all the beef aside,’ I can’t / Mm-hmm, I’m heated now.”

Budden hasn’t responded to Drake’s new music, but he did weigh in on Drake’s Finsta posts, claiming Drake was too “cold” to be going back and forth with a non-rapper.

Despite the beefs, the album is expected to perform well, potentially rivaling Kendrick’s “GNX,” which reclaimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts after the Super Bowl! 👀
