Jay-Z, Diddy Rape Accuser Dismisses Lawsuit

Diddy and Jay-Z are celebrating a major legal win as the woman who accused them of raping her when she was 13 has decided to dismiss her lawsuit. The accuser filed documents in federal court to voluntarily drop the case with prejudice, meaning it can’t be refiled. This is a huge victory for both music moguls, with Jay-Z, in particular, insisting all along that he would not bow to the false allegations—and now he’s come out on top.

You might remember that the accuser claimed she met Jay-Z and Diddy at a VMA after-party in 2000. However, the lawsuit, filed in December, was riddled with inconsistencies that became apparent in the weeks following its filing.

Some of the major holes in her story include her claim that the alleged assault took place at a house that night, while photos showed Jay-Z at a popular NYC nightclub. She also stated her father picked her up from the house, but he denied any memory of that event. Plus, she said she met Benji Madden that night, but Madden was on tour and nowhere near New York City.

As expected, Jay-Z is thrilled by the news but clearly still frustrated by having to face these false claims. He told TMZ, “Today is a victory. The frivolous, fictitious, and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and was never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, my loved ones, and I have endured can never be dismissed.”

Jay also took a shot at the plaintiff’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, saying, “This 1-800 lawyer gets to file a suit hiding behind Jane Doe, and when they quickly realize that the money grab is going to fail, they get to walk away with no repercussions. The system has failed.”

While Jay-Z is all for protecting victims, he emphasized the need for the courts to also “protect the innocent from being accused without a shred of evidence,” adding, “May the truth prevail for all victims and those falsely accused equally.”

Jay’s attorney, Alex Spiro, commented, “By standing up in the face of heinous and false allegations, Jay has done what few can – he pushed back, he never settled, he never paid 1 red penny, he triumphed, and he cleared his name.”

Diddy’s legal team also released a statement, especially targeting Buzbee, calling the dismissal “confirmation that these lawsuits are built on falsehoods, not facts. For months, we’ve seen case after case filed by individuals hiding behind anonymity, pushed forward by an attorney more focused on media headlines than legal merit. Just like this claim, the others will fall apart because there is no truth to them.” They reiterated their stance that Diddy “has never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor.”
