A devastating car crash early this morning claimed the lives of three women on the Tepic-Mazatlán freeway near the San Blas intersection, close to the town of El Jicote in Tepic, Nayarit. One other person was injured in the accident.
Authorities say the driver of a red Nissan Versa, carrying four people, veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a three-ton refrigerated truck.
The impact was severe, and the three female passengers in the Nissan Versa were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as teachers from Rosamorada Technical Secondary School: Elva Karina “N,” Irma Leticia “N,” and Yolanda Leticia “N,” all originally from the Santiago Ixcuintla and Rosamorada areas.
The driver, identified as Gilberto “N,” reportedly the school’s principal, was seriously injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
