Wife of Weezer Bassist Shot by Police, Booked for Attempted Murder After Chaotic Chase in Los Angeles

TMZ has learned that Jillian Lauren, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was shot by police and later arrested for attempted murder following a chaotic incident in Los Angeles.

The ordeal began Tuesday afternoon when California Highway Patrol and LAPD officers responded to a hit-and-run on a freeway in the Eagle Rock neighborhood. According to law enforcement, three suspects fled the scene on foot. One of them ditched his vehicle, climbed an embankment, and ran into a nearby residential area.

In an attempt to evade capture, the suspect reportedly stripped off some of his clothes to blend into the neighborhoodโ€”though unsuccessfully.

While police searched the area, officers entered the backyard of a home where the suspect was believed to be hiding. Thatโ€™s when Jillian Lauren reportedly exited her neighboring house holding a firearm. It’s still unclear if she fired the weapon.

Police say they issued multiple commands for her to drop the gun, but she did not comply. According to LAPD, she then pointed the weapon at officers, prompting them to open fire and strike her in the shoulder. She retreated into the home afterward.

Roughly 30 minutes later, Lauren and a babysitter exited the house with their hands raised and surrendered to officers.

Lauren was transported to a hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. She was later booked on suspicion of attempted murder. Police say they recovered a 9mm handgun at the scene.

The suspect who initially fled was eventually taken into custody, while the other two remain at large.

Jillian Lauren is an author known for her memoir Some Girls: My Life in a Harem, in which she details her experience as a guest of the Prince of Brunei.
